Under the sea in Koh Chang
4 Island Koh Chang Snorkelling Trip
Although it’s been over a fortnight since I was at Koh Chang I thought it’d be nice to share some photographs from my 4 Island snorkelling trip. I had a really nice day not just on account of the beautiful beaches and underwater scenery but because I spent the trip with a group of Americans from LA/San Fransico who befriended me. Being that bit older, they had plenty of travelling experience under their belts- it was fun to exchange stories and chat about life. We had dinner and drinks later that evening on the hotel beach.
The Boat 🚢⚓️
We spent the day aboard a two decked boat which resembled something out of a Popeye movie 👈. The first 45 minutes of the journey was vomit inducing- like seriously bad- I’d forgotten how much my body does NOT agree with boats. Having no sickness tablets to hand I did the next best thing and turned to sleep for comfort. Luckily it worked and I slowly adjusted to the rhythm of the sea.
To my horror, we had to walk a plank to board our ship! There were no steps or handles for assistance- just a really long wooden plank- Captain Hook-stylee. Fortunately I avoided toppling in, mostly because the tour guides helped me cross by holding my hands… #Baby
Fish! 🐠🐟🐳🐟🐠🐟
We visited 4 islands over the course of the day. Upon reaching an island the boat would anchor up and we’d have an hour or so to hop off with our snorkels and explore. A number of tourists bought bread to feed the fish which attracted schools in their hundreds. A few crumbs in your hand and you would be swarmed! As you can see from the pictures and videos it was pure chaos! Stripy zebra fish with a bluey tinge dominate the photos but there were breeds of other shapes and sizes too.
Fish frenzy
Large spiky sea anemones clinged to the rocks near the shore. I avoided them like the plague! 👀👈😱
Beaches! 🌅🌴☀️
The beaches we stopped at were gorgeous. Perfectly sand-kissed and edged in beautiful, vibrant greenery. One housed it’s own Eco resort- definitely something to consider if I’m ever back in Ko Chang.
and lastly… baboons!
Before we headed back to mainland we paid visit to “Monkey Island”- a rocky land mass ruled by a colony of baboons. We didn’t get off the boat. Instead we threw fruits onto the shoreline and watched them wrestle each other for a bite!
Baby baboon was sooo sweet.
